What is Hardcut?
Hardcut limiter, also known as “popcorn” on diesel engines, is a feature where the fuel injection is intentionally cut off at a specific rev range, keeping the RPM steady at that set level, typically around 3,000 RPM. This behavior continues until the driver releases their foot from the accelerator pedal.
While this modification alters the engine’s sound and behavior, producing a distinctive “popcorn” sound and visual effect in the exhaust gases at the end of the exhaust pipe (the “backbox”), it does not provide any additional performance gains. It’s primarily a visual and auditory enhancement rather than an improvement in engine performance.
